About This Spot

Ranchero's Mexican Food is the kind of place that greets you with warmth even before you take your first bite. Nestled just off US Highway 24 in Independence, it carries the unmistakable hum of a beloved local spot where the pace slows down enough to appreciate genuine moments—whether you’re rolling through the drive-through or stepping up to the counter. The air carries the scent of sizzling carne asada and fresh pico de gallo, inviting an appetite that’s both adventurous and comfort-seeking.

Inside, the atmosphere feels unpretentious and familiar. It’s a space where neighbors and newcomers alike find their rhythm, sharing smiles and quick hellos while waiting for flavorful, hearty Mexican fare. The menu reveals itself not through a mere list, but in the joyful discoveries of each order—from the satisfying crunch of street tacos topped with cilantro and onions to the playful, unexpected twist of hot Cheetos wrapped into a burrito or piled onto fries. Every bite seems to tell a story of care and a hands-on approach that brings freshness and boldness together.

What truly stands out here isn’t just the food but the human side of the experience. Behind the counter, the staff moves efficiently yet thoughtfully, clearly invested in making each visit a little brighter. This is a place where service doesn't just meet expectations—it quietly exceeds them by treating each guest like family. You can feel that hospitality in how portions are generous and the salsas at the self-serve bar invite you to customize your meal exactly how you like it.

Whether you’re craving the familiar comfort of carne asada tacos or feeling a bit daring with something like the fiery Hot Cheetos Asada Fries, Ranchero’s offers a small-window glimpse into a community’s heartbeat—one where food, connection, and a casual ambiance come together effortlessly.

One of my favorite spots to come to. The street tacos (I got al pastor) are fantastic, and I've decided I'm marrying the person here who decided to put hot cheetos burritos and hot cheetos fries on the menu. One of the most genius and delicious things I've ever had. At our wedding we will serve hot cheeto burritos But seriously, the food is good, and you're supporting a small biz! Can't recommend highly enough. Try the hot cheetos fries!!

Get the hot cheeto burrito! It's my favorite. The hot cheeto steak fries were ok but they forgot the hot cheetos!! Lol smh. My wife liked the bean tosada. She said she would definitely get it again. The churros were cooked fresh just wish we had something to dip them in. Oh we also bought 2 horchatas and they were delicious. Definitely would recommend trying this restaurant. follow me for more honest reviews!

I stopped by this Mexican spot with a drive-through and I was blown away—not just by the food, but by how genuinely nice everyone was. The staff greeted me with real smiles and treated me like family. You can tell they care about their customers. The service was quick, the portions were generous, and the flavors were on point—fresh, authentic, and comforting. It’s rare to find a drive-through with this kind of warmth and quality. Definitely coming back!

Best counter serve Mexican food I’ve had in a long time! I ordered 3 tacos and almost couldn’t finish them. Excellent portion sizes and flavorful food. The salsa bar had at least 4 types of salsa, picked veggies and limes. This will be my new go-to Mexican food
